The Ente Mostra dell’Artigianato Artistico Abruzzese of Guardiagrele has organized a poetry competition in honor of the renowned poet Modesto Della Porta, a symbol of the cultural heritage of the region
To make the event even more special, the Board of Directors decided to create an exclusive trophy to be awarded to the competition’s winner, inspired by the statue dedicated to the poet, located on Via Orientale in Guardiagrele.
This sculpture depicts the poet seated on a bench, with the beautiful Abruzzese landscape in the background. The statue was created as part of an initiative by the Ente Mostra, with the contribution of the Abruzzo Region, crafted by sculptor Michele Montanaro in collaboration with local blacksmith Giuseppe Marrone.

The creative process of the trophy
The Ente entrusted us with the study and creation of this special trophy. The development of the piece required careful planning and craftsmanship, utilizing modern digital technologies. The first step was a 3D scan of the original statue. By using the Artec Eva scanner, it was possible to obtain an extremely precise digital reproduction of the sculpture, a process that took about two hours. The digital model was then refined, removing unnecessary parts and focusing solely on the poet’s bust, which was selected as the main feature of the trophy.
Technological realization of the trophy
The physical production of the trophy was handled by Coesum, a company based in Chieti, using one of the most advanced 3D printing technologies—stereolithography. This allowed for the creation of a detailed and finely finished object. To complete the work, the trophy was enhanced with an elegant base made of Majella stone, a material typical of the Abruzzo region, adding a final touch of local craftsmanship.
