Cad design and cnc fabrication of polypropylene tank

We designed and built a polypropylene washing tank intended for a production line of steel wires used in tire manufacturing. The tank fits into one of the central stages of the process, where it is necessary to effectively remove acidic residues on the wires after the initial chemical treatment, thus ensuring the quality of the material before subsequent processing.

The structure is designed by dividing the tank into two main areas. In the first half-basin, washing takes place more vigorously through running water, which allows most residues to be quickly removed. Continuing into the second half-basin, the cables pass through a series of bars that spray water and air under pressure, thus completing the cleaning phase with a more targeted action. The route ends with an air jet that dries the outgoing wires, preparing them for the next phase of the line without introducing downtime or discontinuity.

PROJECT DETAILS

Anno: 2025

To keep the production area clean and safe, the tank was flanked by collection chutes installed both upstream and downstream to intercept any drips and prevent liquids from escaping from the processing area. This solution allowed the new component to be integrated into the existing line without structural changes while ensuring an orderly working environment.

In terms of construction, the tank was made from polypropylene sheets machined by CNC milling, so as to achieve precision in geometries, housings and mating surfaces. The various parts were then joined by welding PP, ensuring high strength, tightness and durability even under continuous loads and aggressive chemicals.
